POSITION SUMMARY

This position with Architectural Surfaces Group is responsible for preparing and entering financial transactions, completing reconciliations, applying accounting principles and taking ownership of various assigned processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

ASG Staff Accountant Job Description:

  • Work with the Divisional Controller in Austin to complete monthly and quarterly accounting close procedures
    • Book required journal entries
    • Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
    • Take ownership of assigned business processes
  • Work with the Divisional Controller, Senior Manager of Accounting, and Finance team to understand and explain material account balances and fluctuations each month
  • Work with the Divisional Controller, Senior Manager of Accounting, Corporate Controller, and various functional groups throughout the company to implement and maintain SOX controls.
    • Identify and correct control gaps and improvements within the accounting function
    • Work with business units and functional groups to implement and maintain adequate SOX control environment.
      • Help operational and non-accounting functions understand the requirements of SOX and importance of internal controls
      • Help them develop and implement controls that are effective, efficient, and not operationally disruptive
    • Work with Internal Audit team to evaluate results of testing and remediate ineffective controls
  • Work with our external auditors to facilitate our Quarterly and Yearly audit requirements.
  • Work with the divisional controller and IT to integrate the financial data and processes of acquired companies into ASG
    • Understand the requirements of the 2 different accounting systems and work with IT to develop a strategy to convert the data.
    • Map the accounts of the new company to ASG.
    • Perform testing of the transitioned data in the development environment with IT to ensure proper migration.
  • Work on, and in some instances, take ownership of Ad Hoc projects which help acheive ASG's overall corporate strategy
    • Automation Projects
    • Standard Operating Procedure Documentation
    • Accounting software and system Implementations

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to details and good-record-keeping.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel).
  • Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.
