We are headquartered in Berkeley, CA with a second office in New York, NY. Additional employees are based in Los Angeles and Sacramento, CA. Due to Covid-19 our work is entirely remote for now. Although all travel is suspended indefinitely, in normal times the ability and willingness to travel to support client engagements is required up to 40% total time on an annual basis. No relocation assistance is offered with this position.

Your Role:

We seek an energetic and insightful person with broad understanding of health care and recognized, measurable expertise in relevant industry areas to serve as a Senior Consultant.

Core desired skill sets for this position include prior experience in fast-paced consulting or similar work environments and advanced project management and communication skills to ensure projects are successful and all team members, clients, and firm leadership are appropriately informed at all times.

What you will do:

  • Lead and support client engagements across the firm's portfolio of work, including managing project teams and taking responsibility for relationships with clients;
  • Serve as a senior contributor and thought leader in strategic planning and business development;
  • Support Intrepid Ascent consulting engagements through research, analysis of information, and development of high-quality work products, such as assessments, presentations, reports, and other documents including proposals for new business;
  • Engage in professional growth activities, such as reading industry material, attending conferences and educational events, online courses, knowledge transfer with other staff, utilizing learning resources from relevant professional organizations; and
  • Supporting additional internal Intrepid projects as needed.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Consulting / Technical Assistance / Program Management: 5-10 years of previous consulting or other relevant experience. May include technical assistance and/or program management services on multi-stakeholder initiatives outside of traditional client relationships. Ability to contribute to multiple engagements simultaneously, with frequent context-switching during the workday, while maintaining excellent focus, quality of work product, and teamwork.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead and inspire teams through creating a sense of shared mission, modeling collaborative engagement, and demonstrating commitment to positive outcomes on both internal and external projects.
  • Project Management: Expertise in project management processes; ability to use project management tools at all levels - as project lead, project manager, project coordinator, etc. - to keep projects on track, partners engaged and supported, and provide clear documentation.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Advanced research and data analysis and visualization experience, creative problem solving, and research background.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge and/or expertise in one or more of Intrepid Ascent practice areas (data strategy, technology adoption, collaboration across sectors, and governance) Quality/Performance Improvement, Health Information Technology, Training / Onboarding
  • Public Health: Commitment to public health objectives for underserved populations; strong understanding of safety-net programs (esp. Medicaid), community health centers, public hospitals, and managed care/value-based care; understanding of social determinants of health and intersection of social services and health care services

  • Graduate degree preferred, plus 5-10 years of related analytical, project management, and/or consulting experience;
  • Progressive employment history with work habits demonstrating you are proactive, detail oriented, innovative, inquisitive, and an excellent communicator;
  • Strong leadership orientation demonstrated through progressive responsibility in past roles and ability to articulate desired impact in the future;
  • Experience managing and developing teams;
  • Experience managing relationships and delivering presentations for clients or organizational leadership;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce professional written documents, visual diagrams, and reports;
  • Creative problem-solver who can identify issues, propose solutions, synthesize analyses accurately and highlight implication of findings;
  • Expertise in project management activities, including planning project resources, assembling and leading a project team, time management, meeting facilitation, issue and risk management, project schedule and progress monitoring, deliverables tracking, reporting and documentation, and evaluation of project success;
  • Dexterity in understanding client and stakeholder needs and expectations with the ability to respond timely and appropriately;
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the proficiency to master new topics and ideas quickly; additional qualifications include creative problem-solving, high level of motivation, efficiency, and flexibility;
  • Agility and flexibility in order to contribute to multiple engagements simultaneously while maintaining excellent focus, quality of work product, and teamwork;
  • Experience with standard business and collaboration tools such as MS Office Suite, Google Suite, Slack, Zoom, and Smartsheet.

Preferred candidates will also have:

  • In depth knowledge of health care programs, public programs and services, and value-based care;
  • An understanding of social determinants of health and the intersection of health care and social services; and familiarity with the role of technology in enabling new modes of collaboration in health care and allied fields.
