Position Summary:

The Product Program Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all aspects of the council's product program. He or she ensures product program implementation consistent with GSUSA guidelines, incorporates designated program outcomes, and supports council strategic business objectives. The supervisor provides oversight and coordination in all phases of the product program implementation, including developing an integrated execution plan, mapping out and coordinating logistical support, engaging and overseeing volunteers, ensuring adherence to safety and risk management guidelines, and maintaining materials and inventory. This position may supervise an assistant, and directs the efforts of multiple volunteers.

Essential Duties:

  • Recommends and establishes objectives and plans for implementation of the council's product program.
  • Develops and administers an annual operating budget for product program, including income projections
  • Plans and develops product sale program specifications and resources (e.g., time tables, materials and forms etc.)
  • Supervises the day-to-day product program operations; ensures the accuracy of all product transactions and the safeguarding of assets
  • Manages inventory and logistics of product distribution and collections
  • Assists in the planning, development, and delivery of annual training for staff and volunteers that highlights the Girl Leadership Experience and outcome aspects of the product program and promotes a high level of girl participation
  • Recruits, trains, and oversees a core team of volunteers to manage area product program including the utilization of a product program online platform
  • Provides methods for connecting volunteers to product program-related resources, opportunities, activities, and events
  • Works in partnership with the council's marketing staff to create a marketing plan and materials to disseminate information to the girl members, parents, volunteers and the community about the Fall Product Program and the Cookie Product Program.
  • Serves as liaison to product and shipping companies to ensure timely delivery of products to volunteers who coordinate the program at the local level
  • Oversees the collection of all product program funds and ensures that all delinquent accounts are settled
  • Provides professional and quality customer service to members, volunteers, staff, and other community contacts
  • Evaluates the program to measure goals met for Council, girls and volunteers
  • Identifies recommendations for improvements in logistics, customer service, and program delivery
  • Networks to build contacts and collaborations in the community
  • Ensures that diversity and pluralism are embraced and incorporated into the work of the council
  • Other duties as assigned to meet the council's goals

Education:

  • A four year college degree in business, education or a related academic discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Certification in inventory management or project/program management (desired)

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Previous experience with product program sales and/or ordering and inventory management
  • Previous experience creating and managing budgets and other financials
  • Previous experience creating and delivering training to adults
  • Previous experience applying safety and risk guidelines
  • Experience managing volunteers, including in remote locations
  • Experience working in online or cloud based software
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service and customer responsiveness
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office.

Physical/Mental Essential Requirements:

  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying (up to thirty (30) pounds). 
  • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Ability to sit at a computer work station for extended periods of time. 
  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time. 
  • Ability to focus on detail and accuracy of work product. 
  • Work is performed primarily in a non-smoking office environment, though travel may expose employee to inclement weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel to various work and meeting locations to meet with volunteers and staff.
  • Insurable under the Council's policy for driving and proof of personal vehicle insurance.
  • Dependable transportation is a must.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Occasional high stress may be experienced in dealing with staff and volunteers.
  • A commitment and passion for the Girl Scout Mission and an ability to effectively promote and communicate the Mission and Vision to external and internal stakeholders.
