What to expect every day:

In the Maintenance Technician role, you will oversee the day-to-day maintenance and cleaning tasks for our Kansas City, KS facility. These tasks include general maintenance tasks such as painting, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair, light vehicle maintenance, and carpentry duties as well as cleaning communal areas such as breakrooms, walkways, and restrooms. You will also work to resolve maintenance-related queries and complaints as they arise, within your capabilities and support vendors when it's necessary to call in 3 rd party support.

To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate an organized, thorough approach to your duties and a can-do attitude while being conscious of safety, cost, and timeliness. Our facility houses several large commercial freezers and cold storage units, so it would be exceptionally helpful if you have a background working in and around similar equipment, or have worked in a maintenance capacity in the food and beverage industry previously so you know what to expect in our environment.

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining doorknobs, locks, hinges, doors and gates, as required.
  • Repairing and unclogging toilets, sinks, and drains.
  • Repairing and replacing flooring.
  • Installing and repairing wires, plugs, and switches for standard use up to 220V
  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors in communal areas, including use of commercial floor scrubber.
  • Constructing, drywalling, painting, and/or repairing walls.
  • Installing or moving flooring, drop ceilings, vents, lighting, and furniture.
  • Disposing of trash and recyclables from offices and communal areas and operating the cardboard compactor.
  • Monitoring pest control stations and deterrent devices
  • Tracking inventory to ensure that you have adequate maintenance supplies.
  • Ensuring that fire extinguishers, hydrants, alarms, emergency exits and other installed safety equipment remain in excellent working condition at all times.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing minor vehicle and warehouse equipment issues for forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, and similar equipment ensuring preventive maintenance is performed on schedule
  • Maintaining daily maintenance logs as required for inspection, insurance, and safety requirements
  • Completing daily preventive maintenance checklist
  • Responding to maintenance requests and concerns promptly to resolve issues
  • Scheduling repairs that warrant special technical skills.

Maintenance Technician Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years prior experience as Maintenance Technician in a commercial setting (food and beverage industry preferred)
  • 2-3 years of experience with and demonstrable knowledge of the safe operation of forklifts (preferably standup), reach trucks, and similar material movement equipment in a warehouse environment, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • HVAC, CMRP, or equivalent certification, preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds without assistance.
  • Dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Available to work on weekends, if required.


6am-3pm or 8am-5pm Monday through Friday with some overtime or weekends as required


$17-$19/hour, depending on experience
